Steve DominickSteve Dominick grew up in Cody, Wyoming , along with his four older siblings. His first job was as a ranch hand at age twelve. After high school, Steve when to Colorado State University, officially majoring in Pre-Veterinary Medicine, but unofficially majoring in 3.2 beer drinking. After a disastrous first year of college and a little more time spent on the family ranch, Steve joined the Marine Corps and served for thirteen months in Vietnam. There he was made the battalion legal clerk due to having taken typing in high school and having a year of college, even failed college. Steve learned how to study by learning Uniform Code of Military Justice, while living in tents by candlelight and doing guard duty on the perimeter every other night, in the monsoon season in Khe Sahn. Following Honorable Discharge for the Marines, Steve returned to Colorado State University where he earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Steve practiced medicine in Sheridan, Wyoming for fifteen years and then returned to graduate school at Eastern Washington University, where he earned a Masters of Social Work degree. Steve worked as a counselor for sex offenders in Spokane, Washington for two years and then finally returned to his home in Cody in 1994. Steve worked as a Social Worker and Counselor in varying capacities, going into private practice in 2005. Steve has worked part time for the Veterans Administration for several years and as a part time, hospice, social worker for many years while in private practice. Steve’s greatest accomplished is having accepted the urgings of the Holy Spirit to love, trust, and obey Jesus as his Lord
and Savior. Steve cherishes his family, starting with his wife, Cheryl, of 35 years. |

Modalities and TechniquesI use Biblical principles in guiding my counseling. However, biblical examples and scripture are only utilized if clients are comfortable with them. My primary focus in any counseling is positive personal regard and finding strengths, which are in fact the glory of God, in my clients.
I use multiple techniques including: -Rogerian -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy -Solution Focused Therapy -Twelve Step techniques -Structural Family Therapy, and others. I am particularly excited as I am just beginning using a new technique, Lasting Accelerated Cognitive Emotional Solutions (LACES), focusing primarily on trauma, anxiety and esteem issues. |
